Ukraine and Russia exchange massive drone and missile strikes on strategic infrastructure

Ukraine and Russia have engaged in a massive exchange of long-range drone and missile strikes targeting strategic infrastructure.

In Russia, a large-scale Ukrainian assault on the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk damaged a naval base and two major grain export terminals. These terminals possess a combined annual export capacity of over 15 million metric tons. The attack resulted in at least three deaths, including a child, and has raised concerns regarding global food supply stability and wheat prices. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the raid as a unique operation against the Russian naval fleet.

Simultaneously, Russia reported downing 598 Ukrainian drones across 19 regions. Ukrainian officials claimed these strikes successfully targeted Russian military-industrial and aviation facilities, including the Progress Center in the Samara region and the Savasleyka air base.

In Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported continued strikes on port infrastructure. These included hits on a rail station at the port of Izmail used for military logistics, as well as two tugboats in the Black Sea that were escorting vessels carrying Western weapons. Other reported Russian strikes targeted fuel tanks in Odessa and military deployment sites in the Kharkov region.
