Ukraine and US Draft Cease‑fire Proposal for Russia

Ukraine and the United States are preparing a joint proposal aimed at Russia that would suspend Ukrainian air strikes, including drone and missile attacks on critical infrastructure, as a step toward reviving stalled peace negotiations. Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, have discussed the plan with U.S. special envoys such as Steve Whitcof and Jared Kushner, and the draft is expected to be presented to President Donald Trump during an upcoming meeting in Washington.

Russia’s Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it is too early to comment, noting that Moscow’s response will depend on whether the proposal aligns with Russian strategic interests. Earlier similar cease‑fire requests were rejected by Russia, and both sides continue to carry out aerial attacks.
