Ukraine average wages decline in July 2026

Average wages in Ukraine saw a slight decline in July 2026, falling to 32,243 hryvnias (approximately 2,706 PLN) from 32,783 hryvnias in June, according to data from the Ukrainian statistical office.

Regional disparities remain significant. Kyiv recorded the highest average salary at 49,463 hryvnias, while the Chernivtsi and Kirovohrad regions reported the lowest, with monthly earnings around 23,354 and 23,532 hryvnias respectively. In the Luhansk region, reported wages were 35,367 hryvnias, though media outlets have raised questions regarding the methodology used to calculate earnings in Russian-occupied territories.

Sectoral differences are also stark. Information and telecommunications specialists earn the highest average of 78,716 hryvnias, whereas those in the education sector earn significantly less, averaging 20,237 hryvnias. Additionally, companies in the country owe approximately 3.8 billion hryvnias in unpaid wages. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov attributed recent economic shifts to a wage reform announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in June 2026, aimed at creating more transparent procurement processes.
