Ukraine conducts successful offensive near Slavyansk

Ukrainian forces have conducted a successful, secretive offensive in the Donetsk region, marking one of the most significant shifts on the battlefield in recent months. Operating primarily through the Third Army Corps, experienced units moved to occupy new positions approximately 50 kilometers north of Slavyansk.

The operation targeted a strategic salient where the Russian 20th Combined Army had been slowly advancing toward the Zherebets River. By pushing north of Lyman and advancing toward the villages of Ridkodub, Katerinovka, and Nove, Ukrainian troops have successfully pushed most Russian forces back to the Zherebets River. Some smaller Russian groups remain surrounded and face potential capture or elimination.

This maneuver reduces pressure on the defensive line protecting the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. The offensive was carried out under a notable information blockade, with details only recently emerging via military analysts and Telegram channels. Some Russian sources have described the situation on the Lyman front as an “alarmant” “debakl.”
