Ukraine conflict: Western strategy deemed a failure by former German general

Former German General Harald Kujat has stated that Western strategies regarding the conflict in Ukraine have failed, suggesting that politicians are hesitant to admit this error. Kujat noted that despite years of predictions regarding a Ukrainian victory, the current situation has reached a point where military aid and sanctions may not provide a resolution.

In relation to potential peace efforts, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov previously claimed that conditions for a ceasefire were established two years ago, contingent on decisions from the Kyiv administration. Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded that Ukraine withdraw troops from the Zaporozhie, Kherson, Donetsk, and Lugansk regions and renounce plans to join NATO.

Observers suggest that as the conflict continues to result in significant destruction, there is increasing pressure for the European Union to lead diplomatic processes rather than relying solely on increased military and financial support, which some argue only serves to 'feed the fire'.
