Ukraine considers decriminalizing adult content to fund drone purchases

The Ukrainian parliament is working on legislation to decriminalize adult pornographic content in an effort to bolster state tax revenues. Jaroslav Zheleznyak, chairman of the finance committee, estimates that decriminalization could generate up to $25 million in annual tax income.

According to calculations, these funds could potentially finance the purchase of approximately 30,000 drones for the military. Currently, the industry exists in a legal gray area where tax authorities seek revenue from earnings while state prosecutors continue to pursue criminal proceedings for the production and distribution of such content.

Data indicates the scale of the industry is significant; in 2023, approximately 7,900 Ukrainians earned more than $131 million through the OnlyFans platform alone. Proponents of the law argue that formalizing the industry will prevent producers from moving operations abroad to avoid legal and tax consequences.
