Ukraine deploys remote-controlled vehicles in Donetsk offensive
Ukrainian forces are implementing new tactics in the Donetsk region as part of ‘Operation Vivaldi’. Utilizing remote-controlled technology, the military has converted older vehicles, including Soviet-era BTR-60 armored transports, into unmanned ‘zombie cars’. These remote-operated platforms carry explosive payloads toward Russian positions without requiring a driver on board, reducing human risk in high-danger zones.
The 3rd Army Corps reports that this operation has resulted in the reclamation of 176 square kilometers of territory, including a recent gain of 51 square kilometers during the third phase. These efforts aim to disrupt Russian advances toward the Donetsk fortress zone.
Simultaneously, residents in Kyiv are preparing for a harsh winter amid intensified Russian drone and missile attacks. Following previous strikes on energy infrastructure that caused indoor temperatures to drop as low as 3°C, citizens are stockpiling generators and supplies to mitigate the impact of potential heating and water outages.
