Ukraine implements two-tier air raid alert system
Ukraine is implementing a new two-tier air raid alert system to better distinguish between drone threats and missile or ballistic attacks. The system uses yellow alerts for drones and red alerts for more severe threats, including missiles and large-scale strikes. This change aims to provide greater predictability for citizens and businesses, helping to mitigate the economic impact of frequent disruptions.
Ukrainian Minister of Economy and Environment Oleksandr Kravchenko noted that each hour of air raid alerts costs the country approximately $45 million. Under the new rules, sirens will no longer sound to signal the end of an alert; instead, information will be provided through other warning channels. While many businesses can continue operating during yellow alerts, regulations for schools and nurseries remain unchanged.
