Ukraine launches offensive in Donetsk amid reports of chemical drone use

Ukrainian forces have launched a new offensive in northern Donetsk, known as Operation Vivaldi, aimed at disrupting Russian military logistics and securing territory north of the Sloviansk and Kramatorsk fortifications. Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky reported that the Third Assault Corps has liberated several villages and reclaimed approximately 85 square kilometers of territory, including the village of Serednie.

On the tactical front, Ukrainian military specialists report that Russian forces are increasingly utilizing chemical irritants, such as tear gas, delivered via drones. This tactic is designed to force Ukrainian soldiers out of their trenches and shelters, where they become vulnerable to subsequent attacks from explosive-laden FPV drones. To counter this, gas masks are being distributed to all personnel, though the weight of the protective equipment presents logistical challenges for soldiers moving toward combat positions.
