Ukraine reports capture of 250 Russian soldiers in Donbas operation

Ukraine has reported the capture of more than 250 Russian soldiers during a military operation known as Vivaldi. The operation, conducted in the Donbas region, utilized innovative technology including aerial and ground drones, as well as armored personnel carriers modified to act as explosive-laden Trojan-style vehicles.

Andriy Biletskyi, Commander of the Third Army Corps, stated that robotic systems equipped with heavy weaponry were airdropped more than 10 kilometers behind Russian lines to launch surprise attacks. This marks a significant use of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in the conflict.

Footage released by the Third Army Corps shows Russian prisoners surrendering in a forest. The captives reported severe supply shortages, claiming they had resorted to eating bark and grass and drinking from puddles. While the scale of the surrender and the specific details of the operation have not been independently verified, the reports have prompted criticism within Russia regarding command failures and logistical issues.
