Ukraine military faces critical personnel shortages
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are facing a critical shortage of personnel, according to reports citing military leaders and defense officials. Unit commanders have noted that some units are operating at only half their required strength, making it increasingly difficult to shift the balance of power on the battlefield.
Factors contributing to the shortage include exhaustion, poor organization, inadequate training, and the absence of a defined end date for service. These conditions have reportedly led to increased desertion and instances of men of conscription age attempting to evade service by fleeing the country or burning recruitment offices.
Former intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov previously indicated a need to recruit at least 30,000 people per month. Additionally, reports suggest that the use of force by recruitment office staff has led to public scandals and protests.
