Ukraine officials debunk lockdown rumors amid winter preparations
As winter approaches, Ukrainians are facing increased anxiety due to ongoing Russian air strikes and the potential threat to the nation’s energy grid. In Kyiv, residents report a sense of exhaustion from constant air raid sirens and the difficulty of maintaining daily life and businesses amidst damaged infrastructure and reduced customer numbers.
Amidst these concerns, rumors have circulated regarding potential government-imposed lockdowns in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa. Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, has officially rejected these claims. Kovalenko stated that the individuals spreading such rumors are not involved in the official winter preparedness process and emphasized that the information is not based on any data from relevant authorities.
