In contrast, the Kremlin has condemned the initiative, labeling it a political provocation and an attempt to rewrite shared history. Zelenskyy has maintained that the selection of heroes is a sovereign right of the Ukrainian people, stating, “only Ukrainians will decide who is a hero for us.”
