Ukraine post-war scenarios pose challenges for Poland

Marek Budzisz, an expert from the think tank Strategy&Future, has outlined two primary scenarios for post-war Ukraine.

The first scenario involves a positive outcome where Ukrainian society accepts the loss of territories currently occupied by Russia, allowing for a gradual process of national reconstruction.

The second, more negative scenario describes a destabilized Ukraine facing a dramatic demographic collapse and difficulties reintegrating soldiers into civilian life. In this instance, the state could become a significant burden on its neighbors and the European community.

Budzisz warned that an unfavorable conclusion to the war could severely damage relations between Poland and Ukraine. He suggested that Ukraine might perceive the West as having failed them, and noted that Poland could face accusations of betrayal in such a geopolitical shift.
