Ukraine prepares defenses in Sloviansk-Kramatorsk as frontline nears
Ukrainian forces are establishing extensive defensive barriers in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk urban cluster to prepare for potential street fighting. As Russian reconnaissance groups have been spotted in the outskirts, the area is being transformed into a fortified zone through the installation of anti-tank ditches, concrete dragon's teeth, barbed wire, and specialized anti-drone netting.
Local authorities previously allocated approximately 70 million hryvnia (over $1.5 million USD) for barbed wire supplies a year ago. Defensive structures are being concentrated around key infrastructure, including areas near the NIIPTMASH research institute, to impede the movement of Russian armored vehicles.
In separate combat developments, Ukraine’s 3rd Separate Heavy Motorized Brigade, known as the Iron Brigade, demonstrated the use of the YoYo anti-UAV system. This compact module, attached to multi-rotor aircraft, uses a weighted string to entangle and disable Russian Mavic drones. The brigade also reported successful interceptions of various Russian unmanned aerial vehicles, including the Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg reconnaissance drone, a Lancet UAV, and an Italmas attack drone.
