Ukraine: President Zelenskyy dismisses deputy head amid corruption probe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Iryna Mudra, the deputy head of the Presidential Office, following a major anti-corruption operation. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) are investigating a criminal organization allegedly led by a current and a former member of the Ukrainian parliament.

The investigation involves high-ranking officials from the Office of the President. Authorities conducted searches at the residences of Mudra and Member of Parliament Vadym Stolar. Mudra is suspected of money laundering, with allegations that laundered funds were used to pay bail in a corruption case within the energy sector. Former MP Maksym Mykytas is also suspected of involvement in the group.

This development follows previous corruption scandals within Zelenskyy's administration, including the investigation involving former Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak. The crackdown comes as Ukraine faces international pressure to demonstrate a rigorous fight against corruption as part of its efforts to join the European Union.
