Ukraine prosecutor denies Kyiv involvement in Nord Stream pipeline blasts

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General announced that, based on the evidence gathered so far, there is no indication that Ukraine, its state bodies or officials participated in the September 2022 explosions of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. The office added that the investigation remains ongoing and further evidence is still being collected.

Kyraine officials have offered to set up a joint investigation team with German authorities to facilitate the rapid exchange of information. German prosecutors, however, have charged former Ukrainian army officer Serhii K. (identified as Serhiy Kuznyecov) as a co‑perpetrator, alleging he acted on behalf of unnamed Ukrainian state entities to disrupt gas deliveries and cut off revenue for Russia’s war effort. The suspect, arrested in Italy and transferred to Germany, has denied the allegations.

Both Ukraine and Germany say they will continue cooperating while the case proceeds.
