Ukraine Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko resigns

Ukraine's Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, resigned on September 7, 2026, following an investigation into a suspected corruption network. The probe, conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), uncovered allegations of bribery involving Prosecutor's Office officials and fraudulent call centers.

Investigators claim a criminal organization received bribes to allow illegal call centers to operate without interference. Kravchenko has denied any involvement in the scheme, stating his resignation is a conscious political decision intended to prevent the Prosecutor General's office from becoming a tool for political confrontation.

Kravchenko had held the position since June 2025. His departure presents a challenge for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's administration, which faces ongoing pressure to demonstrate institutional integrity and combat corruption during the ongoing war with Russia. The resignation will now proceed through the formal institutional process via the Verkhovna Rada.
