Ukraine pushes national hero pantheon law as Russian attacks kill civilians

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced a draft law to create a central pantheon that would honor all Ukrainian national heroes throughout history. The proposal, announced on Telegram, aims to commemorate figures who fought for Ukraine and inspire future generations. Zelensky highlighted recent anniversaries, including the introduction of the national currency, the formation of the armed forces, and the adoption of the constitution, as a symbolic backdrop for the initiative.

Separately, Russian glide‑bomb attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in civilian deaths. The strikes are part of the ongoing conflict that began with Russia’s full‑scale invasion on 24 February 2022 and have intensified the humanitarian toll in eastern Ukraine.
