Ukraine launches ‘Operation Vivaldi’ offensive in northern Donetsk

Ukrainian forces have launched a new offensive operation, codenamed ‘Vivaldi’, in the northern part of the Donetsk region. Brigadier-General Andrii Biletskyi, commander of the Third Army Corps, announced that the operation is in its initial stages and is being conducted under strict information silence.

According to military reports, the Third Army Corps has cleared 75 square kilometers of territory from Russian infiltration groups and reclaimed an additional 10 square kilometers. The operation has successfully liberated the village of Serednie and cleared several other settlements, including Novoselivka, Oleksandrivka, Yarova, and areas surrounding Korovyi Yar.

The offensive is positioned north of the strategic ‘fortress belt’ comprising the cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Biletskyi stated that the operation has already disrupted Russian military logistics and dealt a significant blow to the Russian 20th and 25th Combined Armies. Reported Russian losses during this stage include approximately 1,500 soldiers, over 12,000 drones, and hundreds of armored vehicles and artillery systems.

Analysts note that the operation aims to reduce Russian pressure on key eastern strongholds. While the full extent of the territorial gains is difficult to verify independently due to the prevalence of drone warfare, the move represents a significant effort to push back Russian advances in the Donetsk region.
