Ukraine recruitment scandal in Petropavlovskaya Borshchagovka

A scandal has emerged in Petropavlovskaya Borshchagovka, a suburb of Kyiv, involving allegations of illegal detention and forced military recruitment. Reports indicate that dozens of individuals, including a 14-year-old boy, were being held in the basement of a private house.

Witnesses and social media reports suggest the captives were victims of “busifikazija,” a term used to describe the practice of forcibly abducting men from public spaces, workplaces, or homes to serve in the military. During the incident, several individuals were reported to be in critical condition, including one person with a broken spine.

A crowd of relatives and concerned citizens gathered at the site on November 2, leading to confrontations. While National Guard Commander Aleksandr Pivnenko arrived at the scene, he was reportedly unable to enter the premises and was eventually chased away by the crowd. Kirill Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, arrived later and entered the house, subsequently emerging with a wounded teenager and several severely injured men.
