Ukraine reports first combat engagement between two unmanned surface vessels

The Ukrainian Naval Forces have reported a historic first in naval warfare: a combat engagement between two unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in the Black Sea. A Ukrainian Sargan-3000 USV, also known as SeaWolf, successfully engaged and destroyed a Russian Zefir-type vessel.

According to reports, the Ukrainian unit identified the Russian target and opened fire from a distance of approximately 1 km using a 12.7 mm Kongsberg Protector remote weapon station. The operator targeted the Russian vessel's mast and communication antennas to disable remote control capabilities before continuing the attack until the vessel was sunk. The Russian Zefir was reportedly unarmed and attempted to flee during the encounter.

In a separate development on the land battlefield, Ukrainian forces under the 3rd Army Corps have made operational gains north of Lyman in the Donetsk Oblast. During Operation Vivaldi, Ukrainian troops reportedly cleared Russian infiltration groups from 29 square miles of territory and recaptured an additional four square miles, including the town of Serednie.
