Ukraine reveals new long-range weapons used in Novorossiysk strike

Ukraine has revealed the use of new long-range hybrid weapons during a large-scale strike on the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk. The operation, conducted on the night of August 12, utilized a combination of Palianytsia, Peklo, Bars, and Long Neptune systems alongside sea and air drones.

The strike reportedly damaged four Russian warships, including the Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen, as well as an S-300 air defense radar, port infrastructure, and access routes to oil storage facilities. Following the attack, local authorities declared a state of emergency in Novorossiysk and temporarily closed two major grain terminals.

Palianytsia is described as a hybrid weapon between an attack drone and a cruise missile. It weighs approximately 320 kg, has a wingspan of 1.7 m, and can carry a 100 kg warhead. The system uses a single-shaft turbojet engine with a solid-fuel rocket booster, reaching speeds of 900 km/h with an operational range of about 650 km. It was developed over 1.5 years at a cost of less than $1 million per unit.
