Ukraine and Russia exchange strikes, 14 people killed
The Russian Ministry of Defence said its forces continued a special military operation, targeting Ukrainian military and logistical sites across several regions and claiming tactical gains. It reported destroying 635 Ukrainian drones and shooting down 274 Ukrainian UAVs during the night.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s air defences downed only one of 27 Russian ballistic missiles launched in a recent night attack and warned that the country lacks sufficient Patriot‑type interceptors. He reported that Russian strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava, damaging 18 buildings, a school and the Lithuanian embassy, and that at least nine people were killed in Kyiv and 30 injured.
Mutual attacks have resulted in at least 14 deaths: nine civilians in Russia, including a 13‑year‑old girl, and five civilians in Ukraine. Russian forces also struck a cargo ship and fuel tanks in the Black Sea to disrupt Ukrainian supply lines.
