Ukraine secures $3.35 billion World Bank loan for war‑time budget
The World Bank has transferred $3.35 billion (about €2.93 billion) to Ukraine’s state budget, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on Telegram. The funds are earmarked for essential social and humanitarian spending, macro‑financial stability, and a broad reform agenda covering agriculture, education, greenhouse‑gas monitoring and integration with EU markets. The loan is part of the First Program for Employment and Private‑Sector Growth agreed at the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Gdańsk, Poland, on 25 June, and is backed by guarantees from the United Kingdom and Japan.
A second phase of the agreement could deliver up to €874 million by the end of 2026, with the programme ultimately targeting an additional $1 billion in financing through 2026. The disbursement follows earlier international support, including an $8.1 billion IMF programme and a €90 billion EU credit line.
