Ukraine strikes Russian chemical plant amid attacks on Ukrainian cities

Ukrainian drone strikes have targeted the Novomoskovsk Azot chemical plant in Russia, a major facility producing nitric acid and fertilizers. According to British Defence Intelligence, the plant was hit twice in June 2026. Satellite imagery confirms damage to cooling systems, pipelines, storage buildings, and supporting infrastructure, as well as a nearby power plant transformer station. The facility is located approximately 350 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and is considered significant to the Russian defense industry due to its potential supply of chemicals for explosives.

Concurrently, Russian forces have conducted large-scale aerial attacks against Ukrainian cities using a combination of ballistic missiles and drones. In Kharkiv, a drone strike hit a residential building, causing a fire and injuring a woman. In Kyiv, debris from intercepted targets fell near a school and residential areas. Other significant strikes were reported in Odesa, targeting port and warehouse infrastructure, as well as in Zaporizhzhia, where a drone hit an industrial enterprise causing a large fire. In Chernihiv, strikes destroyed a private house and injured a child and two adults.
