Ukraine strikes Russian naval base and air defense systems in Black Sea

Ukraine has launched significant strikes targeting Russian naval and air defense assets in the Black Sea region. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported an attack on the Novorossiisk naval base, claiming four Russian military vessels were hit. Among the targets were the frigates Amiral Essen and Amiral Makarov, which were allegedly transporting Kalibr cruise missiles. Russian authorities confirmed the attack caused at least two deaths, including an eight-year-old child.

In a separate operation near Gelendzhik, Ukrainian drone forces targeted air defense and electronic warfare systems located near a coastal complex associated with Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian commander Robert Brovdi reported that drones launched six missiles at the area, successfully damaging an S-400 air defense system after first disabling a 'Volna Kupol Garant' electronic warfare station. Military analysts noted that the destruction of these systems reduces Russian aerial protection in the region.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova rejected proposals for a Black Sea truce, describing such measures as insufficient and claiming they would only provide Ukraine with time to regroup.
