Ukraine strikes Russian Tu-95MS bomber at Engels airbase

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the SBU Alpha unit successfully struck a Russian Tu-95MS strategic bomber at the Engels-2 airbase in the Saratov region. The Tu-95MS is a key asset used by Russia to launch long-range cruise missiles, such as the Kh-101, against Ukrainian territory.

In addition to the strike on the airbase, Ukrainian forces targeted an oil refinery in the Yaroslavl region, located approximately 1,000 kilometers from the front line. Zelenskyy also noted that military responses were carried out in the Black Sea.

Simultaneously, Russia launched waves of drones and missiles against Ukraine, including the Kyiv region and Kharkiv. In Kyiv, at least one person was reported killed, and multiple civilian structures, including homes and apartment buildings, sustained damage. The strike on the Engels airbase follows a pattern of Ukrainian long-range operations aimed at degrading Russian strategic aviation and energy infrastructure.
