Ukraine tests robotic ground vehicles with dual-rifle turrets

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has announced that front-line units have begun combat testing new unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) equipped with specialized robotic turrets. Developed through the Brave1 defense innovation cluster, these systems feature a modular turret capable of mounting two Kalashnikov assault rifles simultaneously to increase firepower during offensive and defensive operations.

The robotic systems utilize a four-wheel chassis with airless tires and a protected hull designed to resist bullets, fragments, and punctures while navigating difficult terrain. The Security Service of Ukraine’s Special Operations Center “A” confirmed the successful use of these systems against enemy ambushes involving drones. The use of standard-issue rifles is intended to reduce production costs and facilitate rapid scaling of the technology.

While many current UGV missions in Ukraine focus on logistics and evacuation, the Ministry is actively expanding its robotic arsenal. The Lynx PLUS and Zmiy Mini Strike models have already seen operational approval, contributing to a significant monthly increase in UGV mission counts throughout 2026.
