Poland and US prepare Patriot missile transfers to Ukraine

Patriot missiles military aid air defense PAC-3 Ukraine war

Poland is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine, valued at approximately 50 million euros (58 million USD), focused on strengthening air defense capabilities. According to the Polish Ministry of Defense and military officials, the package is expected to include PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems. The equipment being provided consists of items that the Polish armed forces are currently decommissioning as they have reached the end of their operational service life.

Major General Ireneusz Nowak noted that while the transfer of Patriot ammunition is supported, the quantity of missiles will be limited and not a massive donation. This move comes as Ukraine seeks to replenish its air defense stocks ahead of potential winter attacks on its infrastructure.

Separately, the United States is nearing approval for the transfer of 10 Patriot interceptor missiles from Germany to Ukraine. This specific deal, valued at roughly 29.6 million USD, involves older MIM-104E GEM-T (PAC-2) modification missiles rather than the more advanced PAC-3 versions currently in high demand by Kyiv.
