Ukraine unilateral ceasefire fails to stop Russian attacks

Ukraine has ordered a unilateral four-day pause in combat for its troops from September 5 to September 8. This measure, intended to coincide with renewed American diplomatic efforts to bring Moscow and Kyiv back to the negotiating table, has not resulted in a cessation of hostilities.

Russia has not officially accepted the ceasefire, and attacks on Ukrainian territory have continued. In the last 24 hours, Ukrainian authorities reported at least six deaths and 51 injuries. Significant strikes were reported in the Dnipropetrovsk region, specifically in Kamianske, where a hit on an enterprise caused multiple fatalities.

Additional drone and artillery attacks were reported in the Kherson region, targeting civilian vehicles and settlements. While the pause is a unilateral move by Ukrainian defense units, there is currently no official bilateral agreement between Kyiv and Moscow regarding a cessation of hostilities.
