Ukraine war at 53 months: Russian missile falls in Poland, Russia's war cost $747 bn

The conflict in Ukraine entered its 53rd month, with fighting now concentrated along front lines stretching from Donetsk and Luhansk in the east to Kherson and the approaches to Kupiansk in the south. On 29 July a Russian missile landed in the Lublin region of eastern Poland, a strike confirmed by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The incident occurred as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was visiting Lublin.

According to Russian opposition outlet The Moscow Times, the war has cost Russian taxpayers about 53.079 trillion rubles (roughly $746.6 billion). That sum could fund Russia's healthcare system for the next 28 years, its education budget for 30 years, or sustain the finances of large Russian regions for a century.
