Ukraine says Patriot interceptor shortage left only one Russian ballistic missile intercepted
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a shortage of Patriot air‑defence interceptors meant that only one of the 27 Russian ballistic missiles launched was shot down. Russia fired a total of 35 missiles, including 27 ballistic missiles, and deployed 185 attack drones. Kyiv was the main target, with additional strikes on the Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
The attack damaged 18 residential buildings, a school, the Lithuanian embassy and other infrastructure. Nine people were killed and 30 injured, among them four children. Zelensky urged Ukraine’s international partners to deliver additional Patriot interceptors urgently, warning that each night without them results in more casualties.
