Ukraine war: Russian drone destroys dairy farm as US Senate pushes sanctions

Russian officials, including Deputy Security Council chief Dmitri Medvedev, dismissed Ukrainian claims that Moscow is preparing a new mobilisation, calling them "lies of the enemy". In the United States, the Senate voted 86‑12 to advance a sweeping sanctions package targeting Russia’s energy sector and adding provisions that would let the president impose up to 100 % tariffs on imports from countries such as China and India that buy Russian oil and gas. The bill also includes sanctions on Iran.

In eastern Ukraine, a Russian drone strike on a dairy plant in Bohoduchiv, Kharkiv region, caused extensive damage to production facilities, forcing owner Dmytro Muraschkin to shut the operation. No casualties were reported, but the attack illustrates the broader impact of the war on Ukrainian businesses. German retailer Metro also announced a temporary closure of a wholesale outlet in southern Ukraine after repeated Russian attacks on infrastructure, while Ukrainian forces continue targeting Russian fuel depots and logistics centres.
