Ukraine's Third Army Corps reclaims 40 sq km in Donetsk

The Ukrainian Third Army Corps has reclaimed an additional 40 square kilometers of territory in the Donetsk region as part of its ongoing offensive, codenamed ‘Operation Vivaldi’. Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky confirmed the progress, stating that the villages of Shandriholove and Derilove have been liberated, while Drobisheva is now under full Ukrainian control.

The operation, centered around the Lyman axis in northern Donetsk, utilizes tactical maneuvers involving rapid movement through ravines and gullies to maintain the element of surprise. While the offensive was officially announced on September 15, independent researchers and military bloggers had noted Ukrainian activity in the area since late spring.

This recent advancement could potentially negate over 18 months of Russian territorial gains in the region. Reports suggest Ukrainian forces have pushed Russian positions back toward the Zherebets River.
