Ukrainian forces carried out overnight long‑range drone attacks that hit two major oil refineries inside Russia. The Bashneft‑Novoil refinery in the Bashkortostan republic, about 1,300 km from the Ukrainian border, and the Slavneft‑Yanos refinery in the Yaroslavl region, roughly 700 km away, were struck, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Zelenskyy described the raids as “long‑range sanctions” intended to cut Russia’s oil revenues that fund the war.

Russia’s defence ministry reported shooting down 605 Ukrainian drones that night, while Yaroslavl governor Mikhail Evraev said 93 drones were intercepted over his region. Falling debris hit storage tanks at the Yaroslavl refinery, igniting a fire and injuring four people. No civilian casualties were reported at the refinery sites.

At the same time, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian railway infrastructure. An attack on the Lozova train station in the Kharkiv region killed two people, and a separate strike on a station in the Browary district east of Kyiv killed eight. Russian officials claim they target only military‑relevant sites, while Ukrainian authorities report civilian deaths and injuries.
