Ukrainian citizens contributed 7.4 billion PLN to Poland's ZUS
Ukrainian citizens contributed 7.4 billion PLN in social security contributions to the Polish system in 2026, according to Liwiusz Laska, President of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS).
Data for the first half of 2026 indicates that the Social Insurance Fund (FUS) maintained its ability to finance benefits. The ratio of FUS expenditures covered by contribution revenues reached 82.9 percent in the second quarter, an improvement from 81.5 percent in the first quarter. Total revenues from social insurance contributions for the first half of the year amounted to nearly 205 billion PLN, representing a 7.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Foreigners accounted for 8.2 percent of all ZUS-registered individuals as of late June 2026, totaling approximately 1.34 million people. Ukrainians constitute the largest foreign group with 901,000 people (67.2 percent of all foreigners), followed by Belarusians at 143,800 people (10.7 percent).
