Ukrainian MP advocates for recognition of Kosovo

Ukrainian Member of Parliament Oleksiy Goncharenko has expressed strong support for Ukraine recognizing Kosovo as an independent state. Goncharenko noted that he has sponsored a bill in the Ukrainian parliament to facilitate this recognition.

He criticized the stance of President Volodymyr Zelensky, who previously stated that Kyiv’s position on Kosovo remains unchanged. Goncharenko suggested that while the ongoing war makes diplomatic steps complicated, a serious partnership between Ukraine and Kosovo is necessary due to shared historical experiences and common threats from Russia in both Ukraine and the Western Balkans.
