Ukrainian patient files complaint after Bangkok nose surgery

A Ukrainian man, identified as Pavlo, has filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Police Division in Thailand following complications from a nose reconstruction surgery in Bangkok.

Pavlo underwent the procedure in September last year at a hospital in the Bang Kho Laem district to repair a fractured nose. The surgery, which cost 350,000 baht, involved the surgeon using bone from the patient's rib to reconstruct the nose. Following the operation, Pavlo reported breathing difficulties and a sensation of airway obstruction. While the surgeon initially described these symptoms as normal side effects, a subsequent medical examination in February revealed a fractured rib.

Before the surgery, Pavlo reportedly researched the doctor’s credentials, finding information that suggested the physician was highly regarded within the ASEAN region. However, Pavlo later encountered claims suggesting the doctor had previously paid compensation to a foreign patient following an alleged medical error. Pavlo is currently seeking assistance and updates regarding his complaint.
