Ukrainian refugee Yuliia Batrak represents Team UK at WorldSkills Finals

Yuliia Batrak, a 20-year-old refugee from Ukraine, represented Team UK in restaurant services at the WorldSkills Finals in Shanghai. The international competition, frequently referred to as the ‘Skills Olympics’, concluded on September 27.

Batrak, who now resides in Llandudno, Wales, with her mother and sister, fled Ukraine following the Russian invasion. After training at The Ritz in London, she joined a group of 28 apprentices selected for Team UK. The event featured approximately 1,400 global competitors across 60 different disciplines, including robotics and renewable energy. Batrak expressed her honor in representing the UK and the people of Wales, noting the kindness shown to her family since their arrival.
