Ukrainian schools increasingly adopt AI tools for learning, survey finds

A joint survey by the Ukrainian Pravda magazine, the Small Academy of Ukraine, the Na Urok project and the Oszvitorija civil society group reports that artificial‑intelligence tools have become a routine part of classroom work. Over the past three years, about 60 % of teachers now use AI weekly and 17 % daily, while 90 % of students are aware of AI assistance and 81 % have used it. The primary purposes have shifted from completing homework to seeking explanations and information, with 69 % of pupils using AI for research and 51 % for homework help.

ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Canva AI are the most common services. However, clear school policies are rare: only 10 % of teachers report having written rules, and more than half of students say they are unaware of any guidelines. The main obstacles cited by educators are lack of time to learn the tools (43 %), concerns about academic integrity (31 %) and insufficient technical infrastructure (27 %). The survey included more than 18 000 students and roughly 8 500 teachers from all Ukrainian regions.
