Polish poll names Aleksander Kwaśniewski best post‑communist president

A United Surveys poll commissioned by Wirtualna Polska asked Poles to name the best president of the Third Republic. Aleksander Kwaśniewski received the highest support, with 44.7 % of respondents selecting him, far ahead of former president Lech Kaczyński (14.2 %) and incumbent Karol Nawrocki (12.3 %).

Among voters who back the governing coalition, 76 % chose Kwaśniewski. In the opposition bloc (including PiS, Konfederacja and related parties), Kwaśniewski, Kaczyński and Nawrocki each garnered about 25 % of the vote. Support for the current president Andrzej Duda was low, at roughly 2 % overall. Voters identifying with the Confederation most often answered that none of the post‑1989 presidents deserved the title.

The poll highlights Kwaśniewski’s enduring popularity across the political spectrum, while underscoring the limited appeal of the current officeholder.
