UKRI awards Future Leaders Fellowships to scientific researchers
Several researchers have been awarded prestigious UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Leaders Fellowships to spearhead advanced scientific research in the United Kingdom.
At The University of Manchester, Dr. Lukas Hughes-Noehrer, Dr. Samuel Draycott, and Dr. Richard Obexer will receive four years of funding to lead research in biotechnology, wearable healthcare, and ocean engineering. Dr. Draycott’s work specifically focuses on recreating realistic ocean conditions in a laboratory setting to better understand how multi-directional waves and currents affect marine structures like offshore wind farms and ships.
Additionally, Dr. Clare Ostle of the Marine Biological Association has been awarded a fellowship to advance the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey. This project aims to innovate plankton observation methods to improve the monitoring and forecasting of global ocean biodiversity and ecosystem health.
