NS&I raises savings bond rates and postpones August Premium Bonds jackpot announcement

National Savings and Investments (NS&I) announced a major overhaul of its fixed‑term savings products ahead of the upcoming Premium Bonds draw. The government‑backed bank increased interest rates on its British Savings Bonds, with new guaranteed‑growth rates of 4.72% for one‑year bonds up to 4.75% for five‑year bonds, and comparable rises for guaranteed‑income bonds. The changes aim to support NS&I’s net‑financing target and respond to broader market rate moves after the Bank of England kept its base rate at 3.75%.

In addition, NS&I said the announcement of the two £1 million jackpot winners from the August 2026 Premium Bonds draw will be moved from Saturday, 1 August, to Monday, 3 August because the first falls on a weekend. The draw is expected to award about £447 million in prizes to more than 22 million bondholders, with additional prizes of £100,000, £50,000 and £25,000 for other winners. Holders will be notified via NS&I’s agent and can check results online from 4 August.
