Ukyo Katayama joins HAYF Sports as new partner
HAYF Sports, the company managed by Ivan Basso and the Contador brothers (Alberto and Fran) that operates the Team Polti VisitMalta cycling team, has announced the addition of former Formula 1 driver Ukyo Katayama as a new partner.
Katayama, who competed in six Formula 1 seasons with teams including Larrousse, Tyrrell, and Minardi, also brings experience as the founder of a successful Continental-level cycling team. The partnership aims to expand the company's commercial and sporting reach, with a specific focus on developing cycling talent in Japan by applying expertise gained from youth cycling programs in Spain.
Fran Contador, General Manager of Team Polti VisitMalta, noted that this marks the first time a new partner has been welcomed into the HAYF Sports structure since its founding. Ivan Basso described the move as a strategic operation intended to secure the project's future through long-term collaboration.
