Ulcinj authorities crack down on illegal construction

The Municipality of Ulcinj is intensifying efforts to combat illegal construction and ensure urban planning compliance. Authorities have filed criminal charges against a local resident, identified as I. M., for allegedly constructing a building in the Kodre neighborhood without required permits or documentation. This suspected illegal activity is estimated to have caused 15,000 euros in damages to the municipal budget.

In response to rapid development in the Liman, Meterizi, and Pinješ areas, the municipality plans to establish an internal commission. Led by Chief City Architect Mehmed Mila, this commission will monitor construction projects to ensure they align with approved documentation and designated land use. The initiative aims to identify irregularities—such as unauthorized changes to technical spaces or parking capacities—before occupancy permits are issued, thereby protecting local infrastructure and public spaces.
