Ulcinj beach lessees criticize Montenegro's rental pricing

Prelja Škrelja, president of the Association of Beach Lessees in Ulcinj, has criticized the Montenegrin government and the Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management regarding their pricing policies. Škrelja stated that lessees lack state protection and parliamentary representation concerning rent increases, which have reportedly risen by three to four times.

He noted that while there are 62 regular bathing areas in Ulcinj, many lessees struggle to remain profitable due to high rent and operational costs, such as labor, utilities, and taxes. Škrelja emphasized that instead of accumulating millions, many operators are facing debt and are merely attempting to maintain their creditworthiness in hopes of a better upcoming season.
