Ulcinj hosts third annual squid fishing competition
The third annual Ulcinj Squid Fishing Festival (Lignjada) took place at the pier near Mala Plaža, attracting 24 teams and numerous visitors from Ulcinj and other parts of Montenegro.
The team Tornado, consisting of Muhamed, Rasim, and Sajo Kroma, secured first place with a total catch of 1.82 kilograms of squid. The Queen team, composed of Dživat and Admir, took second place with 1.18 kilograms, while the Nautika team, featuring Endrit and Egza, finished third with 664 grams.
Ulcinj Mayor Genci Nimanbeg presented the main prizes to the winning teams. A special recognition was awarded to Zoran Mladenović for catching the largest individual squid of the competition, weighing 324 grams. The event also included awards for the youngest participants to encourage the tradition of fishing among the youth.
