Ulianópolis bee attack kills one man and injures another
A bee swarm attack at a farm in the rural area of Ulianópolis, southeast Pará, resulted in one death and left another person in serious condition. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 11, approximately 18 kilometers from the municipal urban center.
The victims, identified as Leo Hoffmann and Irton Antonio Jung, were surrounded by the swarm while on the property. Both men were transported to Hospital São Francisco; however, Leo Hoffmann died at the medical facility. Irton Antonio Jung remains hospitalized in serious condition.
The Civil Police have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the attack and have begun interviewing witnesses. The Military Firefighters Corps of Pará noted that while they provide assistance to individuals stung by bees, the removal of hives is not within their official duties.
