Đulio Vinjoli on Montenegrin Green movement during WWII

The late university professor Đulio Vinjoli, a supporter of Montenegrin independence, provided historical perspectives on the Montenegrin Green movement (Zelenaši) during World War II in his 2002 book, ‘The Italian-Montenegrin Case’.

According to Vinjoli, the Green movement, led militarily and politically by General Krsto Popović, was not ideologically driven by fascism. Instead, their cooperation with Italy was motivated by an aspiration for Montenegrin independence and a desire to maintain traditional alliances with the Italian Kingdom. Vinjoli notes that the movement displayed an almost absolute indifference toward fascist ideology and rituals, focusing instead on state development and historical ties.
